The Present Perfect Tense

The Present Perfect Tense

Usage:

The present Perfect tense is commonly used in English for actions  which happened in the past, but have an effect in the present. or The present Perfect tense is used  for actions that happened at an unspecified time before now. The exact time is not important. The Present Perfect tense is not used with specific time expressions such as: yesterday, one year ago, last week, when I was a child, when I lived in India, at that moment, that day, one day, etc. It is  used with unspecific expressions such as: ever, never, once, many times, several times, before, so far, already, yet, etc.

Verb:
Third form of verb 
Helping Verb:
Have (I,We,You,They and Plural nouns)
Has(He,She,It and Singular nouns)
How to make a Simple Sentence?
Subject+Helping verb+Third form of Verb+Object.
Example:
  1. have met Ahmed twenty times.
  2. There have been many earthquakes in Balochistan.
  3. My English teacher has taught that lesson many times
 How to make an Interrogative Sentence?
Helping Verb+Subject+Third form of Verb+Object ?
Example:
  1. Have met Ahmed twenty times?
  2. Have there been many earthquakes in Balochistan?
  3. Has my English teacher  taught that lesson many times?
How to make a Negative Sentence?
Subject+Helping Verb+not+Third form of Verb+Object.
Example:

  • have not met Ahmed twenty times.
  • There have not been many earthquakes in Balochistan.
  • My English teacher has not taught that lesson many times.

    The Present Continuous Tense

    Usage:

    The present continuous tense (also called the present progressive tense) is commonly used in English for actions happening right now(at the time of speaking), or in the future. 

    Verb:
    First form of verb +ing (example:eating,swimming/living)
    Helping Verb:
    Are(We,You,They and Plural nouns)
    Is(He,She,It and Singular nouns)
    Am( I )
    How to make a Simple Sentence?
    Subject+Helping verb+First form of Verb+ing+Object.
    Example: They are playing tennis.
    She is washing the plates.
    He is praising his brother.
    I am flying a kite.
    How to make an Interrogative Sentence?
    Helping Verb+Subject+First form of Verb+ing+Object ?
    Example: Are they playing tennis?
    Is she washing the plates?
    Is he praising his brother?
    Am I flying a kite?

    The Present Indefinite Tense

    Usage:

    The present tense is the tense (that is, the form of the verb) that may be used to express:

    • action at the present
    • a state of being;
    • a habitual action;
    • an occurrence in the (very) near future; or
    • an action that occurred in the past and continues up to the present.
    Verb:
    First form of verb (s/es/ies)
    Helping Verb:
    Do (I,We,You,They and Plural Subjects)
    Does(He,She,It and Third Person Singular Subjects)
    Note: (Helping verb is not used in Simple sentences.It is used in Interrogative and Negative Sentences)
